Smell of Rotten Eggs or Sulfur

The smell of rotten eggs or sulfur generally means that in your drinking water there is a presence of:

  • Hydrogen Sulfide Gas which produces a strong and unpleasant “rotten egg” or “sulfur” odor and can cause black stains and tarnishing of metals. In some cases, the smell may be present only when the water is first turned on or when hot water is run.
