Why is a Level 2 Chimney Inspection necessary?

Whenever a house is bought or sold, the National Fire Safety standard requires that a Level 2 Internal Chimney Inspection be carried out. They are mandatory in order to protect both the buyer and the seller.

  • During the course of a home inspection, the inside of the chimney is not checked.
  • With an internal inspection, all defects and hazards are detected.
  • If a chimney fails an internal inspection, it is considered a safety hazard and can become a negotiable aspect in a sale agreement.
